Please Be
Patient - Pictures Sometime Take a While To Load!

It
is clear that we currently live in the "Internet age". While computers can
sometimes be a bit intimidating, learning how to use them will become an
essential part of education for children who are the kindergartners of today.
For these children, computers will soon become an important way of getting
needed information about many things, communicating with others, and performing
a range of school related tasks. As your child gets older, he or she will
probably come to use computers in ways we, as parents, have never even
considered.
While all learning tasks should be presented at a level that is
developmentally appropriate, it is not too early to begin to acquaint your
child with the computer and show them how the computer can be both useful and
fun.
While we highlight the role of the computer in our kindergarten classroom it is
also important for parent and child to work together in learning about the
computer and how to safely use the internet. Please help your child become
familiar with the parts of this website that relate to our class. I think you
will find that your child will enjoy seeing the activities of our class
highlighted and some of his/her work displayed on the web - for the whole
world to see. I hope your child will find this website to be fun and that
you will find it to be informative.

While many families have computers in the home, some may not. If you don't
happen to have a computer yet, you and your child can gain FREE access this web
site via the Alachua FreeNet, which you can connect to by using one of the 150
computers located at the Main Library on University Avenue, the Tower Road
Library, or a number of other branch libraries located throughout Alachua
county.

Below I have provided links to a number of other websites that may be of
interest to you and your child. If you find some that you think your child would
learn from, explore these sites with them. Note that some sites present material
that is appropriate for children of different ages. Review these sites to
determine the material that is most consistent with your child's developmental
level and, hence, most appropriate for your child.
